AtomVie Opens State-of-the-Art Radiomanufacturing Facility in Hamilton, ON

AtomVie Global Radiopharma staged the grand opening of its new, purpose-built manufacturing site in Hamilton, Ontario. The CDMO says the state-of-the-art facility is a “defining moment” for the company in transforming clinical success into life-changing therapies.

Importance of Radiomanufacturing

The 72,300-square-foot facility, built on a $160 million-plus investment, becomes the largest single-site North American CDMO facility for radiopharmaceutical development. First reports of such a facility came back in 2023. AtomVie says it features low- to high-throughput production and represents a more-than-tenfold increase in the company’s manufacturing capacity.

According to AtomVie, the site is purpose-built for lifecycle growth. It enables seamless progression from early radiopharmaceutical development to commercial manufacturing, impacting the next generation of precision cancer therapies.

‘Next Chapter’ for AtomVie

As this new site scales to full operation, AtomVie targets growing its workforce to over 200 by late 2026.

CEO Bruno Paquin views the opening as AtomVie’s next chapter—and a proud milestone for Canadian innovation in nuclear medicine.

“Our new purpose-built facility amplifies a proven track record of reliable global delivery and deep scientific expertise,” Paquin said. “[It enables] us to support the development and commercialization of our partners’ pipelines. Above all, it advances our purpose of transforming patients’ lives by delivering high-quality radiopharmaceuticals to those who need them.”

Overall, AtomVie to date has supported more than 70 clinical development and tech transfer programs. The company has manufactured more than 1000 current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) batches. This translates to more than 4400 cGMP doses delivered to patients in 28 countries.

The company places its delivery success rate at more than 99%.
